Final Blog Post #5

The design project was about creating a mailer for the MOCA museum, specifically for an artist that has had an exhibit at MOCA. The mailer is supposed to showcase what we have learned so far about graphic design and the principles. The project consisted of creating 3 sketches then 3 rough drafts and finally the finished product. I do feel successful because I did everything in order on how it was supposed to be done and took the critiques my professor gave me and bettered the mailer. Some challenges were just the little details like making sure everything was in the margins, the font size, etc and I overcame them by getting the critiques from my professor and making it better. I also overcame these problems by taking into account the gestalt principles like the law of closure and law of proximity.

Monogram Post #4

1. What have you learned about the importance of everything to date and how you employed all your knowledge to design a monogram?

Designing a monogram involves understanding both aesthetic principles and the personal significance of the letters being combined. I learned about personalization, typography, composition, cultural significance, color theory and functionality to design a monogram. By employing these elements, one can create a monogram that is not only visually striking but also meaningful and appropriate for its intended purpose.

2. What were your challenges and how were you able to overcome them? Was it through perseverance (not giving up) or was it also your knowledge of the foundations and/or the computer and software?

I guess I would say one of my challenges was needing to create more than one monogram/different types of monograms. I overcame this "challenge" by just thinking more creatively and messing around.

Blog Post #3

I learned that Typography is part of graphic design, but at the same time typography is it's own thing. Typography is something that is supposed to be slick, clean and well done, so if something seems out of place or wrong with the text, it can mess up everything else around it or make it seem like too much.

One of my favorite fonts is Tonal Variable. It's one of my favorites because of how squarish and how funny it looks. I think this type of font would look good for the title of a cartoon show or something similar.

Amy's 2nd blog post

Elements and Principles of Design

The Elements of design is line, shape. negative/white space, volume, value, color and texture. The Principles of design is how these elements can and should go together for the best results. The Elements and Principles of Design are important to the profession of Graphic Design because it's how art is created and it's how ideas come about. I can use these elements and principles to be successful with my own designs because these elements and principles are the basics in creating a graphic design. When I do start my first design I want to make it how I vision it and my style, but still follow these basic "rules" of graphic design.

Amys first blog

I'm not sure if i would call myself an artist or a designer or anything like that, but I do enjoy doing such as digital art and designs as well as painting on clothes and such. I would say that I need to start being more creative and find more motivation to start creating new things since I haven't been drawing or painting as of lately. As a student in graphic design right now I hope I find that motivation and creativeness. I want to focus on graphic design right now but I think I'm leaning towards UI/UX design, but I would also like to get into 3D animation/art. I don't really have any thoughts on blogging right now and I think it can be useful in the business world by promoting products and getting in touch with clientele and stuff like that. I have never had a blog and don't blog on any other platform.
